U.S.-based freight railroad transportation company BNSF Railway Co., part of Berkshire Hathaway, will invest about $95 million in its maintenance project in Minnesota in 2019.

With the project, BNSF intends to replace and upgrade its rail, rail ties and ballast to operate a safe and reliable rail network.

The company said the renovation program in Minnesota includes about 340 miles of track surfacing and undercutting work as well as the replacement of about 30 miles of rail and more than 250,000 ties.

The infusion is part of BNSF’s $3.57 billion network-wide capital expenditure program announced earlier this month, which includes replacing and maintaining core network and related assets.
