Ooyala, the U.S. video advertising technology unit of Australian telecommunications company Telstra, will be acquired by Massachusetts-based online video hosting platform Brightcove for about $15 million.

Brightcove, which booked $164.8 million in 2018’s revenue, will pay $6.25 million in cash and the remainder in its shares.

The company will buy Ooyala’s online video technology solutions, including Backlot, Analytics and Live platforms, along with its underlying internet protocol and associated patents.

Brightcove said that the move, expected to close in the first half of 2019, will offer its clients a more comprehensive video management and technology platform while significantly growing its customer base and market reach.
