U.S. nuclear components and fuel supplier BWX Technologies Inc. has started on a four-year, $80 million extension of its manufacturing plant in Barberton, Ohio.

BWX has started work on a foundation, expected to take nine months to finish, for an $11 million vertical turning machine installation.

The Barberton plant, expected to add over 80 jobs in upcoming years, manufactures heavy components for nuclear reactors used in submarines and aircraft carriers.

The new machine to be installed will be more than four stories high, 56 feet wide and capable of processing parts that weigh up to 110 tons.
