U.S. Carpenter acquires UK’s LPW Technology for $81 million

U.S. Carpenter Technology Corporation, a stainless steels and special corrosion-resistant alloys manufacturer, has purchased UK metal powders and innovative solutions developer LPW Technology for $81 million.

The strategic acquisition of LPW Technology will give Carpenter access to LPW’s lifecycle management solutions, which offer an in-depth understanding of how metal powders behave before, during and after they are processed using powder-bed fusion additive manufacturing (AM).

The recent acquisition of LPW will lead to Carpenter leveraging its metal powder lifecycle management technology in combination with its own expertise in producing metal powders for AM.

The acquisition could mark a major shift in leadership within the additive manufacturing powders industry, bringing Carpenter to the fore.
