U.S. liquefied natural gas company Cheniere Energy and private equity firm EIG Global Energy Partners have received approval from federal regulators for $680 million construction project.

The project is aimed at building a 200-mile Midship Pipeline to move natural gas from Oklahoma to destinations along the Gulf Coast and the southeastern U.S.

The pipeline will be designed to move 1.4 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day from Oklahoma's SCOOP and STACK shale plays to a delivery point just north of the Red River near Bennington, Oklahoma.

Working in a joint venture, the companies said that the pipeline is expected to be placed in service by the end of the year.
