U.S.-based public relations and earned media software startup Cision Ltd. has signed an agreement to acquire analytics startup TrendKite.

Under the terms of the deal, Cision will pay about $225 million for TrendKite as it continues to invest in software automation to improve social media campaigns.

Cision said that TrendKite will continue to be offered as a stand-alone product but will eventually be rolled into a wider suite of cloud services.

Last year, Cision also bought the technical assets of Berlin-based software company ShareIQ.
