New York-based Newsela, an education technology startup, has raised $50 million in a Series C funding round.

The startup secured the investment from California-based growth equity firm TCV.

Newsela intends to use the new capital to add more reading content and more tools for teachers to measure student reading comprehension.

The startup also aims to eventually add more than just text-based content to its platform. The new round increases Newsela’s funding total to $85 million.
