U.S.-based data center and colocation services company Equinix plans to extend its Dallas Infomart, the massive carrier hotel and interconnection hub on Stemmons Freeway, with a projected $138 million pump in.

With the investments, Equinix will set up a second data centre with 290,000 square feet of colocation space and 42 megawatts of power capacity alongside the Infomart.

The new data centre, which will be DA11, is expected to be the first high-rise flexible data centre built to Equinix standards in the Americas.

Last year, Equinix bought the Infomart in Dallas for about $800 million.
