U.S. oil and gas company ExxonMobil plans to add a polypropylene manufacturing unit to its greater Baton Rouge, Louisiana petrochemical complex.

The project, representing a capital commitment of at least $469 million, will create 65 new jobs. ExxonMobil also expects the project to generate around 600 construction jobs.

With the extension, the company will boost its production of polypropylene by 450,000 tons per year and position the Polyolefins Plant for even further development in the coming years.

ExxonMobil will start building the plant later this year, and it is expected to start operation by 2021.
