U.S. fashion designer and manufacturer Fossil Group has agreed to divest $40 million in smartwatch technology to Google.
The agreement includes intellectual property Fossil has advanced in its smartwatch business, but will also send a part of Fossil's research and development team over to Google.
The acquisition will help Google further advance Wear OS and extend its capabilities.
The transaction is anticipated to be finalized in February.
