U.S. pulp and paper company Georgia-Pacific has invested $30 million in its Rome Lumber mill.

The commitment is expected to be used to acquire and install new equipment in the coming months.  

The new equipment includes a new planer, grader and trimmer as well as a new sorter that will serve 65 bays, a significant increase from the current 26 bays. 

Georgia-Pacific said that preparations for new structures and equipment is starting now and the installation of the equipment will start the following month.
