U.S. GIP in talks to buy Engie's Indian solar power unit in $500 mln deal

French energy services company Engie SA is holding discussions to sell its Indian solar power business in a $500 million transaction.

The solar power division has a 1,100 megawatt (MW) solar portfolio in India, of which 740 MW is operational.

Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), a U.S. infrastructure investment fund, is in talks with Engie to buy the solar power business.

More so, Engie has annual revenue of approximately $81.5 billion.
