U.S. packaging solutions company Graphic Packaging Holding Co. announced that it is infusing $350 million in the Augusta paper mill in Georgia, which it bought earlier this year from pulp and paper company International Paper.

The investment into the south Augusta facility will prolong the life of the 60-year-old plant.

Graphic Packaging said that the upgrade will advance the quality of the bleached paperboard the mill manufactures for various food-service and consumer-product companies.

The infusion includes upgrades to existing machinery, installation of a new recovery boiler and advancements to the wood yard.
