U.S. Mountaire Farms, an agricultural food processing company, has inaugurated its fourth poultry processing facility in Siler City.
With a total investment of $170 million, the new plant, Mountaire Farms' second facility in North Carolina, will employ 1,250 people once fully staffed.
Additionally, the company also opened a health and wellness center within the 40-acre complex to provide free health care services to participating employees.
Mountaire Farms' new facility is expected to potentially harvest 1.4 million chickens a week from more than 100 local, family farms at full capacity.
