U.S. online pet retailer Chewy, Inc. is planning to construct its new fulfillment center in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Chewy intends to invest $55 million in the new facility, the company's first in the state and ninth in the country, which will add 1,200 jobs in the area.

One North Carolina Fund will support the creation of 150 of the estimated new jobs through a performance-based grant totaling $166,650.

Chewy said that the new fulfillment center will enhance its delivery network across the southeastern U.S., allowing it to better serve its customers with even faster delivery times.
