Rotary International, headquartered in the U.S., has allocated a $14 million grant to the government of Nigeria, aimed at reinforcing polio surveillance efforts in the country. This financial support, channeled through the World Health Organization, seeks to sustain the progress achieved in eliminating wild poliovirus and combat the Circulating Variant Poliovirus in Nigeria.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare in Nigeria acknowledged Rotary International's consistent support, highlighting its positive impact on interrupting the transmission of wild poliovirus. The minister stressed that the grant for polio surveillance would not only enhance health security but also strengthen Nigeria's ability to detect and respond to infectious diseases.
