U.S.-based Sanford Medical Center, managed by healthcare and medical company Southern Marine Health Care, plans to expand its facilities with projects adding up to $34 million.

The project will include renovations to inpatient areas of the Sanford campus and other improvements to the hospital’s infrastructure.

The two projects will bring about 90 new jobs to Sanford with a new inpatient behavioural health unit will be created at the SMHC Sanford Medical Center and an elder care facility, to be opened in 2020.

Maine Behavioral Healthcare will operate the unit and the elderly facility to be operated by North Country Associates.
