U.S. StarNews Mobile Raises $3M to Boost African Content Creators

Los Angeles-based African mobile video network StarNews Mobile has secured $3 million in pre-Series A funding. StarNews enables African content creators to monetize their work through a subscription model and has an active subscriber base of over 4 million through partnerships with MTN and Orange across six African countries. This investment will further empower the region's creative industry, enhancing payouts to content creators and expanding the platform's presence in Francophone Africa, Nigeria, and Ghana.

Janngo, an Africa-focused venture capital firm, led the funding round, with participation from notable investors, including soccer players who are affiliated with athlete representation agency Excellence Sport Nation. StarNews' unique positioning and potential for growth in Africa's creative industry make it a promising venture.
