Ubiquity6, a California-based augmented reality (AR) platform, has raised $27 million in Series B funding, led by venture capital firm Benchmark and peer Index Ventures.

Additionally, Ubiquity6 announced the rollout of its first public beta experience at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). With the funding, Ubiquity6 will open up its tools for its customers to easily create and experience AR with people around them.

A beta version of the Ubiquity6 technology was previewed for the first time at the SFMOMA on August 9 through PlaySFMOMA, the museum’s initiative that encourages the development of avant-garde and experimental games.

In addition to the $27 million in funding, venture capital firm Benchmark General Partner will be joining the Ubiquity6 board.
