Zambia is investing $6 million in technological advancements aimed at enhancing mineral production and fostering sustainability, efficiency, and safety in its mining sector. This initiative will give rise to the Mining Technology (MinTech) hub, a proposed center serving as a focal point for innovation and collaboration in the mining industry. The hub will offer educational and capacity-building programs to facilitate the integration of state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will finance the hub's establishment, with UNDP Africa Director encouraging private sector involvement, anticipating significant benefits for mining companies.
