Dutch impact investment firm Goodwell Investments, along with Oikocredit and Global Partnerships/Eleos Social Venture Fund, has invested $8.5 million in Zambian social enterprise Good Nature Agro (GNA). Headquartered in Lusaka, GNA focuses on empowering approximately thirty thousand smallholder farmers in southern Africa by cultivating drought-resistant, early-maturing legume seed varieties. The investment supports GNA's comprehensive business model, providing access to inputs, input finance, climate-smart training, and a guaranteed market for high-value produce, helping farmers professionalize their businesses and escape poverty. The recent funding will aid GNA in expanding operations, developing new genetics, and reaching fifty thousand farmers by 2027.

Good Nature Agro, founded in 2014, operates as a for-profit social enterprise with a farmer-centric impact approach. The organization's innovative business model addresses small-scale farmers' critical needs, resulting in clients achieving an average income three times higher than traditional mono-crop farming. With a commitment to sustainable and inclusive solutions, GNA's partnership with impact investors aligns with its mission to improve the lives of smallholder farmers in Africa.
