U.S. Scoular, a grain and food ingredients storage to handling services provider, intends to invest around $50 million in the building of a new 105,000-square-foot freeze-drying manufacturing facility in Seward, Nebraska.

The company said that the new facility, to be owned and operated by its indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary, will serve as the foundation for Scoular’s new freeze-dried pet food ingredients platform.

Scoular added that the facility will provide its pet food customers with a simplified and efficient ingredient supply chain while meeting the fast-growing demand for freeze-dried protein ingredients.

The construction, scheduled to start in June, is anticipated to take 14 to 16 months and the plant is expected to be operational by the early fall of 2020.
