Elecnor Chile SA., construction and assembly work unit of Elecnor Infraestructuras, part of Spanish energy company Elecnor, plans to start the construction works on the 10 megawatts (MW) Cabo Negro wind farm in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica Region.

The wind farm, with construction expected to start in February and comprise three 69-metre turbines of 3.45 MW each, is owned by Chilean oil and gas company Empresa Nacional del Petróleo.

The project is expected to cost an estimated 19.1 million euros ($21.9 million) and has received $5 million from the Magallanes government via the National Regional Development Fund.

The Cabo Negro wind farm will be put into service in December this year and become fully operational in January 2020.
