ExxonMobil, a U.S.-based oil and gas company, is planning a $1.9 billion expansion at its Baytown petrochemical complex.

The expansion would add a two-unit plastics processing plant on the north side of ExxonMobil's Baytown complex and also increasing ethylene production by 1.5 million metric tons a year.

The project, which is being evaluated, would create 25 permanent jobs at a salary of $62,971. The company expects construction to begin in mid-2021 and would be completed by 2023.

Recently, ExxonMobil also completed an expansion at its Mont Belvieu plant, adding 1.3 million tons of production capacity to make polyethylene.
